Holy hell this is lovely. The concept of this parallel is fascinating, and you've done a great job bringing Simon and John, and Sherlock and River together. Sherlock and River's conversation was masterfully done. I especially loved this exchange:

“Then do.”

And of course John sees Sherlock as worth all the effort. Oh man, it hurts to imagine John working with Sherlock right after he got him out. Woe! Well done as usual, m'dear.
